Webinar Description

Philosophers have long talked about the nature of beliefs, and their ability to shape our reality. While there has been some debate about this over the years, scientists have recently begun conducting cutting-edge research to back up this sentiment.

This webinar takes an in-depth look at this fascinating new science, and explores how our mindsets can foster, or diminish, wellbeing and human flourishing. The presenter will provide an introduction of what mindsets are, why they are important, and, through the exploration of 3 groundbreaking studies, will examine how our beliefs about experiences of stress, exercise, and eating may hold more influence over health-related outcomes than previously thought.

More specifically, the audience will take a look at provocative new evidence demonstrating that changing the way we think about things like stress can transform our physiology, promoting greater resilience, health, and vitality.

Participants will be exposed to a variety of research, practical strategies, exercises,
and tools that wellness coaches, educators, health professionals, leaders, and individuals can
use to: become of aware of current mindsets, change their mindsets to promote wellbeing, and
make desired mindset changes stick over time. Participants will cultivate an understanding of environmental, situational, and relational factors that can be barriers to fostering healthy mindsets.

The presenter will also review common misconceptions about the new science of mindsets, and will explore important nuances within the research, which will ultimately serve participants in carrying out more effective and higher quality mindset interventions for themselves and those they work with.

Objectives

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • describe the latest research of mindsets and mindset interventions related to stress, exercise, nutrition, and aging.
  • define mindsets and explain how changing them can transform health outcomes.
  • identify at least two new ways to change subjective mindsets around stress designed to promote greater wellbeing.
