Chronic diseases and conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and arthritis are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems. There is growing evidence that complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practices are beneficial for managing the many symptoms of chronic health conditions.

This webinar examines the underlying reasons people do not change harmful habits and reviews CAM practices that support well-being and happier lifestyles. You will experience various mindfulness based practices that may be effective in reducing anxiety, depression, and fatigue, while improving emotional and functional well-being.

Objectives

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • list the benefits of mindfulness activities and describe Dialectical Behavior Therapy change theory.
  • perform easy-to-use energy boosting activities including Meditative Movements™.
  • establish simple, supportive health and well-being activities for their own self-care and client interactions.

About the Presenter: Ellie Peterson

As a professional health and wellness educator, Ellie Peterson's passion is showing individuals how to live in harmony with life. For over 35 years, Ellie has been integrating mindfulness based practices as a way to heal naturally. She is the creator of the Meditative Movements™ technique, which a 2016 University of Minnesota feasibility research study concluded may be effective in reducing anxiety, depression, and fatigue, while improving emotional and functional well-being for persons with chronic health conditions.

Graduating in 1992, Ellie studied fitness and psychology at the University of St. Catherine. She has over 30 years of teaching experience. Ellie has been featured on the WCCO | CBS morning and KARE 11 television shows. She is also an author of several books.
