3-Part Webinar Series: Multicultural Competency (MCC) for Wellness Practitioners

NWI’s Multicultural Competency (MCC) Committee organized three free webinars to provide participants with knowledge, awareness, and skills in multicultural competency within the context of wellness and healthcare practices. The Multicultural Wellness Wheel, developed by the committee in 2016, is highlighted throughout this series. Plus, participants discover how they can learn more about this important topic during the Multicultural Competency Academy and other breakout sessions taking place during the 2017 National Wellness Conference, June 19-21, 2017, in St. Paul, Minnesota. (Please note that continuing education credits are not available for these webinars.)

Laughter yoga is a positive way of promoting inclusion through the ideal of bringing diverse groups of people together using laughter in a non-threatening, and non-competitive environment. Laughter Yoga engages people in spontaneous laughter, promotes healing dynamics, connections and generates inclusion and well-being. Learn the science behind how laughter generates healing in the body as well as how it can be used as an organizational tool for promoting cohesion in your worksite, community and family.

About the Presenter

Nikki Akparewa is a nurse entrepreneur who is pioneering the development of wellness-based nursing curriculum for use in nursing schools across the country. She have developed a “Wellness for Nursing” framework that is translatable from the academic setting to the nurse at the bedside. This framework fundamentally improves how the nurse provides whole person patient care and increases the nurse's reports of satisfaction in their role.
