Program Description
Mind/Body practice, self-care, productivity enhancement, stress mastery, energy medicine and self-healing practice are all key areas in health care, wellness, corporate productivity and more. According to the recently released "consensus report" of the National Expert Meeting on Qigong and Tai Chi the wellness practices of traditional Chinese medicine -- Tai Chi and Qigong -- are "among the best forms of physical activity for diverse populations since they are low cost, low impact and relatively easy to learn.
Tai Chi Easy (TCE) has all the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong (Chinese Yoga); however, it is EASY -- to learn and practice. Therefore, TCE has profound benefits for individuals, families, communities, agencies, institutions and corporations. The intent of Tai Chi Easy is to make the benefits of wellness practice available to all populations with no barriers. Old or young, well or unwell, able or ability-compromised, educated or learning challenged, rich or aspiring to economic well-being; all can benefit from the purposeful utilization Mind-Body Practice and the state of mindfulness. We will learn the Four Essential Health Enhancing Methods of Tai Chi Easy: Body Focus - posture and gentle movement (standing or sitting); Breath Focus - breathing practices; Mind Focus -- mindfulness, visualization, relaxation, meditation, contemplation; and Self-Applied Massage - acupressure, reflexology. These four types of practice (often referred to as Qigong in China), including a brief selection of traditional Tai Chi movements are combined in a variety of ways to create 30 - to 90 - minute practice sessions - depending on age, interest, capacity, etc. Typically, Tai Chi Easy practice sessions are provided on a regular, once-to-twice-weekly basis. TCE can also be presented in workshops, inservices or retreat type events as well.
For approximately one-third of this training, you will learn the practices in a workshop setting where you are both experiencing the practices and imagining teaching them. One-third of the training includes lecture and discussion of a small but rich body of knowledge including teaching techniques, physiology, philosophy, Chinese medicine, holistic thinking, research, and inspiration. Another third of the training time is practicum, where you will practice sharing or leading the practices with each other. You will receive a training manual and DVD with all of the information available for review. A key component of the Tai Chi Easy program is to grant the end learners permission to have fun, take especially good care of themselves and learn at a rate that is light-hearted and stress free. Tai Chi Easy is intended as one step in a life long learning process for both you as the Practice Leader and for your end users. You will return home fully trained in offering beginning Qigong and Tai Chi in your communities and workplaces. To explore further please visit TaiChiEasy.org.
