International Wellness Day 2010
2010 NWC International Wellness Day

A special feature of this year’s National Wellness Conference (NWC) in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, is a day devoted to global wellness -- International Wellness Day (IWD). This will be offered on Monday, July 19. All individuals who are registered for the Main Conference are able to attend this day-long series of presentations, forums and wellness celebrations at no extra charge.

The global wellness event is designed to enable NWC participants to learn about wellness ideas, concepts and programs underway or planned in nations around the world. Speakers will be experts in countries other than the U.S. who have pioneered wellness initiatives supported by speakers who have worked and travelled widely to progress the Wellness movement outside the shores of America.

This day is made possible by an international committee of wellness leaders formed by NWI who have met during the last several NWCs. Previous NWC International sessions have demonstrated that the wellness movement is indeed a global phenomenon and that we all have much to learn from each other.

A primary area of interest to members of the international community is an emphasis on programs, topics or skills that boost quality of life. To become a truly global movement, wellness must be seen and promoted as a paradigm that is universally acceptable to all people in all cultures.

International representatives will talk about what is happening in their locations, while sharing common frustrations, strategies and goals. One of the day’s priorities will be to identify some form of guide, model or framework that helps individuals approach wellness with a positive orientation. A unified effort for research and development will be sought and case studies examined.

Come and participate -- everyone is welcome. Given this kind of agenda, even if you are not presently concerned with global wellness, consider making plans to attend some or all of International Wellness Day on Monday 19 July at NWC. You may, believe it or not, learn ideas and concepts and observe models and program approaches that would be worth trying no matter where you call home. If you still need further incentive to attend we offer the chance to obtain a copy of an International Recipe Book compiled by the International Wellness Day Committee from recipes supplied by the day’s speakers.
