The National Wellness Institute Board of Directors approved the launching of our Emerging Wellness Professional Award (EWP) and Task Force during the 2018 National Wellness Conference, to recognize the work and impact of newcomers to the wellness industry.

NWI wants to motivate emerging wellness professionals to become active members of the organization and support NWI’s efforts to engage and empower the wellness leaders of tomorrow.

Romy Antoine was selected as the NWI 2018 EWP Awardee and is currently leading the Task Force along with Eirasmin Lokpez-Cobo, NWI Board Member.

 

The awardee was offered:

  • An internship opportunity on NWI's BOD
  • A free annual NWI membership for 2018-2019
  • Free registration for the 2018 National Wellness Conference
  • Covered travelling and lodging expenses for the 2018 National Wellness Conference

Emerging Wellness Professional Awardee Responsibilities:

  • Attend all Board meetings (as a non-voting intern) once a month for a year starting on July 2018.
  • Support the Board on the development of the EWP Professional Taskforce.
  • Lead the EWP and become the liaison between the Taskforce and NWI Board.
  • Lead NWI’s initiatives to engage young generations in healthcare and wellness and newcomers to the wellness industry.
  • Bring innovative and creative approaches related to holistic health practices, promoting wellness within communities, lifestyle medicine and integrated health care.
  • Support leadership development in healthcare and wellness.
  • Lead the 2019 EWP Award, which will be awarded during the 2019 NWI Conference.

NWI Emerging Wellness Professional (EWP) Task Force

NWI's EWP Committee was very impressed with the 2018 EWP Award applicants’ qualifications and their interest in NWI.

Therefore, all six applicants, together with other emerging professionals chosen by the Board were invited to form the NWI EWP Taskforce.

The overall purpose of this group is to motivate emerging wellness professionals to become active members of the organization and to support the EWP Awardee’s efforts to engage and empower the wellness leaders of tomorrow.

Emerging Wellness Professional Task Force Goals

  • Develop and implement NWI’s initiatives to engage young generations and newcomers in the healthcare and wellness industry.
  • Propose innovative and creative approaches related to holistic health practices, promoting wellness within communities, lifestyle medicine and integrated health care.
  • Support leadership development among Millennials in healthcare and wellness.
  • Organize the 2019 EWP Award, which will be awarded during the 2019 NWI Conference.

    Romy AntoineRomy Antoine
    Romy is a millennial engagement expert and the author of The Ultimate Guide to Engaging Millennials! He's also the CEO of One Stop Wellness, an employee engagement tech company with a mission to create wellness communities within organizations while helping employees get healthier, happier, and more productive. Romy is also a Certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach, and Corporate Wellness and has worked with clients all over the world. Romy was the winner of the 2018 Young Wellness Professional Award by the National Wellness Institute and now leads the Emerging Wellness Professionals Task Force. His goal is to bring innovation to the wellness field while supporting the next generation of talent in this industry.

    Nicole BlockNicole Block
    Nicole Block is a Well-Being Specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She currently co-leads Mayo Clinic’s Well-Being Champion program and focuses on health promotion and employee well-being in the workplace. Nicole is also a motivational speaker and Instructor of Health Care Administration where she specializes in Practicing Gratitude and Stress Management and Resilience Training.     Samantha DiedrichSamantha Diedrich, CWP
    Samantha is a Certified Wellness Practitioner and Health Coach with Aspirus Business Health - Wellness. She is passionate about engaging business partners and clients to improve their lives through health and happiness. Sam has her master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She is active with multiple non-profits in her community where she serves on the Board of Directors for United Way Emerging Leaders and the Leadership Council for Women United. Additionally, Sam is the current Board Chairperson for the North Central Wisconsin Chapter of the Red Cross and most recently on the Emerging Wellness Professional Task Force for the National Wellness Institute.

    Suzanne HuntSuzanne Hunt
    Suzanne started her engagement with NWI through assisting in the development of the NWI student chapter at her undergraduate institution. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with her MPH, she went to work with North Carolina State University where she began health coaching, developing campus-wide wellness initiatives, creating a gamified wellness module, and conducting research in health behaviors. Since becoming a Certified Wellness Practitioner, Suzanne continues to provide leadership in the development of holistic approaches to wellbeing for students, faculty, and staff at Wake Forest University.

    NWI Emerging Wellness Professional Task Force Advisor Bios

    Eirasmin Lokpez-CoboEirasmin Lokpez-Cobo, MA, CPHWC, ACC
    Eirasmin is a Strategic Marketer with fifteen years of experience building brand equity in marketing, media and advertising agencies in the U.S. and in Latin America. She holds a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing and Marketing Analytics and a Master’s degree Strategic Communications.

    She has a proven record developing effective and innovative multichannel campaigns and providing strategic direction for Fortune 500 brands – such as Walmart, Bank of America, Kraft, DHL, HP, MasterCard and Volkswagen, and for non-profit organizations – such as the American Heart Association, Memorial Hermann Hospital, the National Wellness Institute and The Wellness for Growth Foundation.

    Eirasmin has dedicated the last eight years of her career to making an impact on the wellness industry. As a Wellness Strategist, she has experience designing effective and culturally relevant programs for communities and corporations. She is also an ICF Certified Professional Health & Wellness Coach with numerous corporate and community wellness certifications.

    Eirasmin is Board Member at the National Wellness Institute and Founder & Director of the Wellness for Growth Foundation, an organization that empowers underprivileged Hispanic families through integral wellness education.

    Sherri Galle-TeskeSherri Galle-Teske
    National Wellness Institute’s Sherri Galle-Teske became an official member of the Emerging Wellness Professional task team in October 2018. She is the Director of Membership & Engagement for NWI and coordinates the activities for all aspects of NWI Membership.

    The National Wellness Institute is headquartered in Stevens Point, WI, serving the professionals and organizations that promote optimal health and wellness in individuals and communities globally. While Sherri’s focus is membership and engagement, she promotes opportunities for life-long learning with her monthly NWI newsletter, member promotions, events, building relationships and networking. She’s also a team member of The National Wellness Conference, The Heart 2 Heart committee, and NWI Membership group. Working with student interns, student chapters, and young professionals are among her favorite activities.

    Her vast experience includes her past work as an Account Exec for the National American Red Cross, Health & Safety Director for the North Central Wisconsin Chapter of the American Red Cross, Marketing & Business Development Director for The Wood County National Banks of WI, and Executive Director for the Plover Area Business Association (PABA).

    Sherri understands the importance of building relationships and giving back to her community. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Opportunity Development Center (ODC, Inc.) of Wood, Portage, Taylor, Lincoln, Clark, Adams Langlade and Marathon counties; is an advisor to the Board of Directors for the Plover Area Business Association and is involved with the PABA Community Development, a member of the Plover Plan & Zone Commission, and the Portage County Business Council.
