Offered through a special partnership between the National Wellness Institute and Transform Nursing, the Nurses Influential Leadership Lab is a comprehensive online Certificate course for nurses who want to build upon their leadership skills.
Who is this Course for?
This course is for any nurse, from student to the high-level executive nurse. Influential and inclusive leadership training is necessary in nursing because nurses, as the largest group of healthcare professionals, are typically not adequately prepared in their professional training to handle issues of bias and address systems level barriers to reduce disparities in healthcare. By using pedagogies such as popular education, trauma-informed care and coaching this course brings to the forefront the critical exposure needed for nurses at any level of practice to become civically engaged in building health equity for all populations. It prepares nurses at all levels of training to be leaders, on the job and in the community by helping them to problem-solve through challenging issues and difficult conversations as it relates to closing the equity gap and becoming inclusive leaders. This course calls for a change in practice and approach from nurses in any organization so that they will be capable of developing practical competencies in social justice leadership and promoting health equity for all.
Online Course Format
The course consists of self-paced experiential learning via Transform Nursing's online learning platform, with opportunities for live group discussion through Zoom. Participants will have 11 weeks to complete the course to earn their Nurses Influential Leadership Certificate from Transform Nursing.
Modules 1 & 2: The focus here is on building greater self-awareness in your leadership style and integration of coaching & wellness techniques. We use appreciative inquiry to address self-limiting beliefs, nurse lateral violence and provide you with a step-by-step approach to think more as a nurse coach.
Modules 3 & 4: The focus in these modules is on organizational tools that sharpen your inclusive leadership skills in today’s multicultural and multigenerational workspaces. You will learn how to lead difficult conversations, the application of innovative leadership models and analyze the implications of unconscious bias on client-provider relationships.

To teach nurses to be influential leaders by learning how social justice, cultural humility, diversity and inclusion shape the health and wellness of our patients.

Continuing Education Credit
Participants will receive 12 continuing education credits (CECs) for successful completion of this course. Proof of CECs earned will be emailed to participants who select their desired CEC type(s) on the post-course evaluation form.
ANA: This course has been submitted for approval for 12 contact hours to the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited provider by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
ACSM: The American College of Sports Medicine’s Professional Education Committee certifies that “National Wellness Institute” meets the criteria for official ACSM Approved Provider status from (December 2018 – December 2021). Approved Providers and their content reflect the concepts of their respective organizations and do not necessarily represent the positions or policies of ACSM. Providership # 661228
ICF: Continuing education hours for this course may be used for the purpose of credential renewal in the area of Resource Development.
NBHWC: The course is approved by NBHWC for 12 continuing education units (CEP #100094).
NCHEC (CHES®/MCHES®): National Wellness Institute is designated a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This course is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive 12 Category I (advanced) CECH.
NWI CWP: This courses have been approved for continuing education credits by the National Wellness Institute for NWI Certified Wellness Practitioners (CWP).
General Attendance Continuing Education Certificate: Twelve (12) National Wellness Institute-verified contact hours for continuing education credit/certificate of participation are available for this course.
